Andrew Byer Attorney was born in 1962 in Jersey City, New Jersey, and grew up in Paramus. As a child of an Italian immigrant mother, Andrew had the opportunity to also live in Italy, where he learned the culture and language. This early exposure to different cultures surely laid the foundation for his later success as an international lawyer.
He later attended Columbia University, graduating in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While at Columbia, he spent a summer abroad studying in France in 1981, further expanding his global perspective.
Andrew then attended the Syracuse University College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1987.
After graduating from law school in Syracuse, New York, Andrew moved to South Florida in 1987 to start his legal career. He first worked as a Lease Administrator and Legal Counsel for developing the Miracle Marketplace shopping mall in Coral Gables. In this role, he administered leases and liaised between tenants, negotiating leases between property owners and commercial businesses.
His next position was working for Hemmerle Development as in-house counsel, focusing on commercial litigation within the real estate industry. In this role, his business acumen and legal expertise became invaluable and shone through, propelling his career to new heights.
Andrew’s career took an international turn in 1990 when he became Director of Operations for Maria Pia, an Italian shoe manufacturer which was in the process wrapping-up its U.S. operations and needed someone with Andrew’s talents to do this as efficiently as possible. Fluent in Italian, he played a crucial role in liquidating the company’s U.S. assets and collecting outstanding debts after shutting down operations in Manhattan. This further solidified his knowledge of cross-border business transactions while also increasing his negotiation skills and ability to manage strategic assets.
From 1991 to 1994, Andrew served as the General Counsel and Director of International Sales for Intracorp, Inc., a Miami company that produced video gaming software. Andrew was instrumental in securing rights for Intracorp, Inc. from Hollywood studios to turn motion pictures into video games. He also managed international distribution, generating millions in sales. His legal and business acumen contributed to Intracorp’s growth from a small startup with eight employees to a thriving company with over 100 team members and ready to go public.
In 1994, Andrew established the Law Offices of Andrew Byer, where he devoted his practice to helping European clients set up operations in the U.S. Fluent in Italian and proficient in French and Spanish, Andrew offered much more than legal advice to foreign companies looking to penetrate the U.S. market.
During his legal career, Andrew was considered a proficient litigator and developed a solid practice in American and international business law. He had the capacity to wade through complex legal issues and provide his clients with practical and strategic advice.
After nearly 15 years in law, Andrew decided to heed the call of a passion. In 2007, he left the legal profession to open Magnum Opus Audio, a boutique shop specializing in ultra-high-end audio and home theater equipment near his home in Fort Lauderdale. This venture fueled his lifelong hobby and deep appreciation for high-fidelity sound and cutting-edge technology.
Magnum Opus Audio offered some of the finest audio equipment to audiophiles and luxury home theater enthusiasts. Andrew’s business management and customer relations expertise helped the store thrive for several years. However, the industry underwent significant changes (no thanks to the Internet), making it difficult to sustain the business. After many years, he made the tough decision to close the business in 2015.
Since then, Andrew has been involved with real estate investment and management. He has been the owner and manager of AJ&J Holdings, LLC, a commercial real estate investment company, since 2015. In 2024, he expanded operations and founded Bozhlona, Inc., a property management firm. His legal and business experience gives him an advantage in the real estate world when it comes to investments or property management.
Andrew’s interests are many, outside of business and law. He is a world traveler, having had experiences such as sailing the Mediterranean and the Nile and riding motorcycles across deserts and mountains—he has traveled around the world in pursuit of adventure. He is also a scuba diver, skier, and avid global road-tripper.
A self-proclaimed foodie, Andrew loves fine dining and has an expansive knowledge of world cuisines. He has a lifelong passion for the arts, cinema, and music, which is reflected in his past occupation within the high-end audio industry. Andrew is also pretty much obsessed with science fiction and makes no apologies for his “nerdiness.”
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Andrew is passionate about making a difference in his community. In 2015, he volunteered for six months, preparing meals for the homeless weekly and on holidays. Andrew has also spent over 30 years assisting his college roommate, who struggles with mental illness and homelessness.
Andrew has contributed to various animal shelters, demonstrating his compassion for animals and his belief in supporting organizations that provide care for vulnerable creatures. He once tried his hand at Ostrich Framing in 1995, one of the little-known ventures that he’s proud of. His philanthropic efforts and passion for animal care reflect his desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
Andrew Alexander Byer’s career path demonstrates his adaptability, expertise, and passion for business and life. From litigation attorney to international business and real estate investor, he has had various successes that many can only dream of. His fluency in multiple languages, global business background, and entrepreneurial spirit serve as the jet fuel that continues to drive him professionally and personally.
Today, Mr. Byer is still a leader in real estate investment and management. He still uses his legal knowledge and experience to guide his business judgments and thrive in a highly competitive enterprise world. A businessman at heart and a driven risk-taker, Andrew possesses the ability to close any deal he becomes involved in. This trait transcends his work life and propels him through everything he does.
